The Senate have passed a bill of this House of the following title, viz: H. R. 637. An act to settle the titles to certain lands set apart for the use of certain half-breed Kansas Indians, in Kansas Territory; with amendments; in which I am directed to ask the concurrence of this House.

The Speaker having announced as the business first in order the motion submitted by Mr. Jones, and pending when the House adjourned yesterday, to correct the journal of Saturday last

On motion of Mr. Millson, by unanimous consent, the House resolved itself into the Committee of the Whole House on the state of the Union; and after some time spent therein, the Speaker resumed the chair, and Mr. Israel Washburn, jr., reported that the committee having, according to order, had the state of the Union generally under consideration, and particularly the bill of the House (H. R. 338) to provide for the payment of outstanding treasury notes, to authorize a loan, to regulate and fix the duties on imports, and for other purposes, had found itself without a quorum, and that he had caused the roll to be called, when it appeared that the following named members were absent, viz:

S. 192. An act authorizing the corporation of Washington city to make a loan and issue stock for two hundred thousand dollars for building a market-house.
