As devised by Dr. Horace Packard, of Bosto...
A measure of Safety that should be in every Hospital, and in the possession of every careful Surgeon.
The frequent occurrence of severe burns from the use of hot-water bags when placed in contact with the s'in of the unconscious patient, is well known by every surgeon, and such accidents are liable to occur even when under the care of the most reliable and best-trained nurses.
The Guard (see cut) prevents the bag from coming in contact with the skin, and enables the physician or surgeon to use a
much higher degree of heat. The Bag as secured in the Guard should be wrapped in a towel or flannel when in use.
OF SAN FRANCISCO, CAL.
The Annual Session commences on the first of June, and continues six months.
Instruction is thorough in all Departments, embracing a Three Years' Graded Course of Didactic and Clinical Lectures, with practical work in Dispensary, Laboratory, and Dissecting Room.
The bracing summer climate of San Francisco offers special attractions to the medical student. Material for dissection is abundant, and, owing to the peculiar .properties of the climate, decomposition may be so retarded as to permit the study of anatomy by cadaver, throughout the entire year. What SURGEON-GENERAL MURRAY thinks of
PHILADELPHIA, PA., March 1, 1887. Gentlemen :
It gives me pleasure to give my testimony to the very great value of BOVININE as a food preparation. I have used it for more than a year in a very.aggravated case of nervous dyspepsia in my own family, and have found it to answer very much better than any of the many preparations of extracts of meat before used.
I find that it keeps perfectly even in the warmest weather; is very easily prepared for administration, and it has proved acceptable and beneficial in every case in which I have known it to be given. Very respectfully and truly yours, R. MURRAY, M. D.,
Surgeon-General (retired) U.S.A. THE BOVININE CO., 65 South Fifth Avenue,
