1. Give an account of the structures known as gill arches and gill clefts in-(1) Urochorda (Tunicata); (2) Amphioxus; (3) Rana.

2. Describe the phenomena of "Alternation of Generations" in the case of-(1) Pteris; (2) Pinus.

3. Point out briefly the important features in the structure and past and present distribution (so far as all or any of these points may be concerned), of the following:-(1) Nummulites; (2) Archæopteryx; (3) Ratite; (4) Marsupialia.

4. Describe the structure of a form containing the various organs typical of the group Mollusca.

5. Give an account of the structure of a typical example of (1) the Flagellata; (2) the Ciliata; and mention the more important variations in structure met with amongst the latter.

6. Describe fully the structure of the leaf in the bean plant.

1. Identify and fully describe what can be seen in the specimens labelled A and B.

2. Indentify aud make preparations to show fully the structure of the specimen labelled C.

Both answers must be illustrated by sketches in which the parts seen are named. The sketches must represent the actual preparations.

1. Describe and compare the excretory organs of (1) a lamprey, (2) a shark, (3) a typical mammal.

2. Give an account of the structure of the auditory organ in fishes, birds, and mammals, and of the development of the same in a bird.

3. Describe the development, the structure, and the different forms of feathers.

4. Describe the arterial system of Ceratodus and compare it with that of an Elasmobranch.

5. Give an account of the more important points in the structure of (1) Archaeopteryx, (2) Hesperornis, (3) Iguanodon, (4) Rhamphorhynchus, pointing out in each case the importance of the structures named from the point of view of phylogeny.

6. State and discuss the principal evidence in favour of and against the theory of the permanence of the existing great continental areas and oceanic basins.

7. State what you know of the distribution of the following:-Felis, Notoryctes, Apteryx, Lemurida, Trochilidæ.

3. Name and give the characters of the main divisions of the Ratitæ, and state briefly the past and present distribution of the forms included in this group.

4. Give an account of the various modifications in the structure of the pectoral girdle and limb met with in the class Pisces.

5. Give an account of the circulatory and respiratory systems of the Cyclostomi.

6. Give some account of the characteristic inhabitants of the Nearctic Region.

7. What is Globigerina ooze? Give some account of the Bathymetrical and Geographical Distribution of the Foraminifera.

8. Distinguish between the habitat and the area of distribution of a species, illustrating your answer by an account of the distribution of the Chamois. Give examples of Genera which have discontinuous areas of distribution.
