The Clerk announced as the business first in order the motion submitted by Mr. Hickman, and pending when the House adjourned yesterday, to correct the journal of Friday last.

Pending which,

After debate,

On motion of Mr. John Cochrane, at 4 o'clock and 40 minutes. p. m., the House adjourned.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14, 1859.

The Clerk having announced as the business first in order the motion heretofore submitted by Mr. Hickman, and pending when the House adjourned yesterday, to correct the journal of Friday last, After debate,

Mr. Winslow, by unanimous consent, moved that the House proceed to a fourth vote for Speaker.

Pending which,

On motion of Mr. Houston, the roll of members was called, when it appeared that the following named members were absent, viz:

Mr. Green Adams, Mr. John Y. Brown, Mr. James H. Campbell, Mr. Clark B. Cochrane, Mr. Ezra B. French, Mr. John M. Landrum, Mr. Albert Rust, and Mr. James A. Stallworth.

The question then recurred on the motion submitted by Mr. Winslow.

And being put, it was decided in the affirmative.

The House accordingly proceeded to vote viva voce a fourth time for Speaker.
