Mr. Niblack, by unanimous consent, submitted the following resolutions; which were read, considered, and agreed to, viz:

Resolved, That until the organization of this House by the election of a Speaker, the Clerk of the last House shall be authorized and empowered to preserve order on the floor of the House and in the galleries; and so far as necessary for this purpose, he may exercise the powers devolving on the Speaker, for the time being, under the rules of the last House of Representatives.

Resolved, further, That until the organization of this House as aforesaid, the Sergeant-at-arms of the last House of Representatives is hereby authorized to exercise the ordinary powers of his office for the preservation of order, under the direction of the Clerk of the last House of Representatives, as aforesaid.

The Clerk having announced, as the regular order of business, the motion submitted by Mr. Hickman, and pending when the House adjourned yesterday, to correct the journal of Friday last,
