full force: provided, this act shall apply to the counties of Wood, Adams, Juneau, Marathon, Waupaca, Columbia, Chippewa, Dunn, La Crosse and Portage, and to no other counties.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 163 of the general laws of Repea ed. 1868, entitled "an act to amend chapter 123 of the re

vised statutes, entitled of the place of trial of civil

actions," is hereby repealed.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 66.

AN ACT to amend chapter 139 of the revised statutes, entitled “of appeals and writs of error and proceedings thereon."

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The time for taking an appeal to the for appeal limit- supreme court from a judgment in action for divorce, is hereby limited to six months from the date of such judgment: provided, however, that nothing herein shall affect the right of appeal from any judgment of divorce heretofore rendered until the end of three months from the time this act takes effect: provided, this act shall not apply in cases where the defendant has not been previously served with the summons, or actually received copy of the summons and complaint through the mail, or where the defendant shall not have appeared and defended the action.

SECTION 2. This act shall be in force from its pas sage and publication. Approved March 3, 1869.

AN ACT to repeal chapter 54 of the general laws of 1867, an act entitled "to amend section 4 of chapter 481 of the general laws of 1864, entitled an act to reduce the expenses of the courts of Milwaukee county.''

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter 54 of the general laws of 1867, an act entitled "to amend section 4 of chapter 481 of

the general laws of 1864, entitled 'an act to reduce the expenses of the courts of Milwaukee county,'" is hereby repealed, and the said section 4 of chapter 481 of the general laws of 1864, is hereby revived, reenacted and declared to be in full force and effect.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication. Approved March 3, 1869.

CHAPTER 68.

AN ACT relating to the manner of commencing civil actions, and amendatory of section 9 of chapter 124 of the revised statutes.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 9 of chapter 124 of the revised Amended, statutes, entitled "of the manner of commencing civil actions," is herby amended by adding to said section the following words: "and in all cases, the officer or person making such service, shall indorse on such copy, over his signature, the date of such service, and that the same is a true copy of the original."

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication. Approved March 3, 1869.

AN ACT to amend section 1 of chapter 131 of the general laws of 1868, entitled an act to provide for the publication of the private and local laws in local newspapers.'

SECTION 1. Section 1 of chapter 131 of the general laws of 1868, is hereby amended by adding to said section the following: "Such publication may be made in any paper in foreign language: provided, that the said laws shall be printed in the English language." SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its [passage] and publication. Approved March 3, 1869.

AN ACT to amend chapter 19 of the revised statutes, entitled" of highways and bridges.'

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. SECTION 2. Section 118 of said chapter 19, is here- Section 115 by amended so as to read as follows: Whosoever amended. shall ride or drive faster than a walk, upon any bridge upon which said notice shall have been placed, and shall then be, shall forfeit for every such offense the sum so fixed and determined upon by said town supervisors: providing, the same shall be the amount named in said notice so put up and then being on said bridge as aforesaid.

SECTION 3. This act shall be in force from and after its passage.
