refer to Dr. James A. Steuart, was passed; whereupon Dr. Jno. Morris moved that Dr. Jas. A. Steuart be reprimanded by the President. Dr. B. B. Browne offered an amendment, to suspend for one year. Dr. I. E. Michael offered a second amendment, namely, to expel. After remarks were made by Drs. R. H. Goldsmith against the motion, and by Drs. W. T. Howard, Jno. Morris, P. C. Williams, J. W. Chambers, J. Edwin Michael and others, in favor of one or the other of the amendments, the vote on expulsion resulted in 26 yeas and 22 nays; the Constitution requiring a two-thirds vote to expel, the vote was lost. The first amendment, namely, to suspend for one year, was passed by a vote of 43 yeas to 7 nays. The President, in accordance with the vote, announced that Dr. James A. Steuart was from this date suspended from the privileges of the Faculty for one year. Similar action was taken in the cases of Drs. J. D. Fiske and S. W. Seldner; a motion by Dr. J. H. Branham to suspend Dr. J. D. Fiske 6 months having been rejected. The President announced the suspension for one year of Drs. J. D. Fiske and S. W. Seldner. an On motion of Dr. R. H. Thomas the President was authorized to reprimand Dr. I. N. Dickson; amendment by Dr. R. Gundry to suspend Dr. I. N. Dickson for one year was previously rejected. On motion, a similar sentence was ordered by the Faculty in the case of Dr. Wm. H H. Campbell. No further business having been presented, the Faculty, on motion, adjourned. G. The Eighty-seventh Annual Convention of the Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of Maryland was called to order by the President, Dr. Thomas S. Latimer. All the officers and about two hundred members were present. The minutes of the last two meetings were read by the Recording Secretary and adopted. On motion, the calling of the roll was dispensed with. The President read his address. On motion of Dr. Jas. C. Thomas the thanks of the convention were voted to the President and a copy requested for publication. On motion of Dr. S. C. Chew the following resolution was adopted: Resolved, That a committee of three members be appointed to consider and report upon that portion of the President's address which relates to hygienic precautions against cholera, with the view of using the influence of this Faculty for the protection of the community. Dr. T. B. Brune, the Corresponding Secretary, read his report, which was accepted and referred to the Publication Committee. Dr. Wm. A. Fred. Kemp, the Treasurer, read his report, in which he gave the total receipts for the past year as $1,583.24; disbursements, $1,682.79; deficit, $99.55. His report was referred to the Executive Committee to be audited and reported upon at a future meeting. Dr. P. C. Williams, chairman of the Executive Committee, read his report, which was accepted and referred to the Publication Committee. Dr. S. C. Chew, chairman of the Board of Examiners, read his report in which his Committee recommended for election to membership the following gentlemen: George J. Preston, M.D., Wm. J. Jones, M.D., Samuel T. Earle, M.D., Wm. Thomas Councilman, M.D., Edward Everett Mackenzie, M.D. The report was accepted and referred to the Publication Committee; the election to take place on Wednesday, May 13, 1885. Dr. I. Edmondson Atkinson, the chairman of the Library Committee, read his report, which was accepted, and the resolution therein held subject to action by the Faculty under new business. Dr. G. Lane Taneyhill, chairman of the Committee of Publication, read his report, which was accepted and referred for publication. Dr. John R. Quinan, chairman of the Committee on Memoirs, read his report, in which he mentioned the names of the following members who had died during the past year, namely: Drs. J. Robert Ward, Riggin Buckler, Andrew Hartman and George S. Kinnemon. The report was accepted and referred to the Publication Committee. Dr. P. C. Williams, chairman of the Committee on Ethics, reported that no business had been referred to the Committee since their last report of April 23, 1885. Dr. Joseph T. Smith, the Curator, upon being called by the President, said he had nothing new to report beyond what had already been communicated by the Executive Committee. On motion, the resignation of Dr. R. C. Williams remarked that several medical gentlemen were not aware of the present meeting, and, on his motion, the Recording Secretary was ordered to advertise the meeting in the Sun and American of the 13th May, and call especial attention to the anticipated address of Prof. H.
