The inability to meet all our expenses from our income is not to be wondered at, for our receipts from dues have been less than last year, and the necessary printing of By-Laws and Constitution and Directory for Nurses' report, with the bill for shelving from last year, has consumed as much money as we report to-day in liabilities, except ten dollars. We lost during the year five of our members by death: Dr. J. Robert Ward, in his 76th year; Dr. Jos. J. Woodward, in his 51st year; Dr. Riggin Buckler, in his 53d year; Dr. Geo. S. Kinnemon, in his 36th year; and Dr. Andrew Hartman, in his 68th year; all of whom bore a good reputation in the profession and as citizens. By resignation we lost Drs. Jacob D. Arnold, Isidor Berman, L. R. Coates, Frank D. Gavin and F. A. Patterson. We drop Drs. W. W. Antrim, J. Wm. Cowen, Eli J. Henkle, Jas. G. Linthicum, A. H. Saxton and Thos. W. Temple, for being three years in arrears for dues. A total loss of 16.

Our increase has been by the election of Drs. A. M. Belt, Frank Donaldson, Jr., Samuel J. Fort, Reverdy W. Hall, W. S. Maxwell, John G. Jay, Arthur Williams and Jno. M. Williams, to active membership; and Dr. Wm. Pepper, of Philadelphia, to honorary membership-a total gain of 9.

Donations have been received by the Library Board and Executive Committee, of which they will speak, and account in their respective reports. On the whole the Faculty can congratulate herself upon her success and progress during this last year, the 86th of her existence.

Our receipts and expenditures appear in the following exhibit, which is respectfully submitted:

REPORT OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE.

Mr. President:

BALTIMORE, May 12th, 1885.

During the past year the Executive Committee has held six meetings. At the second meeting we received and accepted the resignation of Dr. F. Donaldson from the Library Board. The vacancy was filled by the appointment of Dr. John N. Mackenzie.

At the third meeting twenty (20) Delegates were appointed to "The Maryland Sanitary Council" that met at the Blue Mountain House, on the 17th, 18th and 19th of September, 1884. The names of the Delegates are as follows, viz:

For Baltimore City

Drs. Wm. D. Booker, Jos. E. Claggett, F. Donaldson, Richard
Gundry. Jno. G. Jay, Wm. Lee, Richard McSherry, Jas. Cary
Thomas, E. G. Waters and Whitfield Winsey.

For Baltimore County:

Dr. Geo. H. Carnes.

For Alleghany County:

Drs. Geo. H. Hocking, Chas. H. Ohr and G. Ellis Porter. For Frederick County:

Drs. J. B. Brawner and Lewis H. Steiner

For Garrett County:

Dr. J. Lee McComas.

For Harford County:

Dr. W. Stump Forwood.

For Howard County:

Dr. R. W. Eareckson.

For Washington County:

Dr. T. W. Simmons.

At a meeting held October 17th, fifteen dollars ($15.00) were appropriated to pay for publishing 500 copies of the Nurses' Directory. At the same meeting we received a letter from Dr. George W. Archer, presenting to the Faculty certain relics belonging to his illustrious ancestor, Dr. John Archer.

The Corresponding Secretary was requested to acknowledge their receipt, and to thank Dr. Geo. Archer for his interesting contribution.

Owing to the fact that the American Medical Association met this year before the annual meeting of this Faculty, the Executive Committee requested the President of the Faculty to appoint delegates to the American Medical Association, so as to secure representation in that body.

At this same meeting, held February 23d, 1885, Dr. Michael was requested to ascertain and report to this Committee the best disposition that could be made of the Pathological specimens belonging to the Faculty.

At a subsequent meeting Dr. Michael reported that the Johns Hopkins University had offered to take charge of the specimens and place them in the University museum, where they would be carefully preserved, and that they would be returned to us whenever we desired to have them. This offer was accepted and the order was given for their transfer.

March 25th the Committee received a letter from our venerable ex-president, Dr. Wm. M. Kemp, stating that continued ill-health compelled him to resign his place on the Committee on Ethics. The resignation was accepted and Dr. Henry M. Wilson was appointed to fill the vacancy.

The Committee has the great pleasure of announcing that Prof. H. Newell Martin, of the Johns Hopkins University, has accepted its invitation to deliver the Annual Address, to-morrow (Wednesday) at 1 o'clock. Prof. Martin will address us upon "The Physiological Action of Drugs."

Owing to the increasing demands upon the lecture room of the Johns Hopkins University, its Trustees were unable to invite us to use their Hall as they have so generously done for several years past, and we were therefor compelled to look for other accomodations for this meeting.

After enquiry we made application for this hall in which we are now assembled, and the Historical Society rented it to us for $40.00, viz: $10.00 per diem during our session.

The Committee is glad to accept the proposition, not only because of the ample accommodations afforded for our meeting, but because we are anxious to invite the attention of the Faculty to the expediency of adopting these rooms as our permanent home.

The Committee was unwilling to assume so grave a responsibility as to move into this hall without full conference with the Faculty. At the proper time the facts, so far as ascertained, will be brought to your attention, and you will be asked to decide what action it is expedient for us to take.

P. C. WILLIAMS, Chairman,

INO. S. LYNCH,

L. MCLANE TIFFANY,

J. E. MICHAEL.

ROB'T T. WILSON, Sec'y to Executive Committee.

REPORT OF THE LIBRARY COMMITTEE.

The Committee of the Library regrets to have to report that it has been deprived of the services and valuable counsel of its original chairman, Dr. Frank Donaldson, who, pressed by other engagements, found it impossible to devote to the demands of the library the attention that otherwise it would have been his pleasure to have given. Dr. I. E. Atkinson was elected chairman, and the vacancy caused by the resignation of Prof. Donaldson was filled by the appointment of Dr. John N. Mackenzie. Dr. Thomas A. Ashby was elected secretary to the Committee, and Dr. Eugene F. Cordell was reappointed librarian.

It has been a source of great disappointment to the Committee that it has been unable to conduct the affairs of the library to its own
