Board of control of bar library.

Repeal.

SEC. 2. The law library in the courthouse in Waterbury shall be under the exclusive control of a board consisting of the county commissioners and three members of the bar living at Waterbury, said members of the bar to be annually appointed by a judge of the superior court holding court at said Waterbury during the month of June in each year.

SEC. 3. So much of section 4620 of the general statutes as amended by chapter 218 of the public acts of 1905 and by chapter 243 of the public acts of 1907 as is inconsistent with the provisions of section two of this act is hereby repealed. SEC. 4. This act shall take effect from its passage.

Such estimates shall be itemized to such an extent and in such manner as may be required by law, and by any rules, instructions, or regulations adopted by the treasurer

CHAPTER 138.

An Act amending an Act concerning the Printing and
Distribution of the Register and Manual.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in
General Assembly convened:

SECTION 1. Section 109 of the general statutes is hereby Distribution of amended to read as follows: Eight thousand three hundred and manual. and fifty copies of such book shall be published in each year in which the general assembly shall be in regular session, and six thousand copies of such book shall be published in each alternate year and distributed as follows: Five hundred and fifty copies to the state librarian for exchanges with other states and foreign countries and public libraries; to each state officer, judge, associate or deputy judge, and clerk of each court in the state, except courts of probate; each senator and representative in congress from this state; each judge of probate, state's attorney, sheriff, town clerk, mayor of a city and warden of a borough, and county commissioner, one copy. If the general assembly be in regular session, fifteen copies shall be given to each senator and ten copies to each representative, and if the general assembly be not in session, then ten copies for each senator, and five copies for each representative shall be sent to the town clerks of the towns where the senators and representatives reside; and the residue, after retaining a sufficient number for distribution among the state departments, commissions, and boards, and in the discretion of the secretary to other parties than those herein enumerated, shall be transmitted directly to the town clerks of the several towns in proportion to their population, except that no town shall receive less than three copies, to be distributed as such towns may direct.

SEC. 2. So much of chapter 14 of the public acts of 1903 Repeal. as relates to the register and manual is hereby repealed. Approved, July 11, 1911.

CHAPTER 139.

An Act concerning the Salaries of the Governor and
Lieutenant-Governor.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in
General Assembly convened:

SECTION 1. From the date of inauguration of the governor and lieutenant-governor elected at the state election held on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, 1912, the governor shall receive an annual salary of five thousand dollars, and the lieutenant-governor shall receive an annual salary of fifteen hundred dollars.

SEC. 2. So much of section 4811 of the general statutes as is inconsistent herewith is hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 140.

An Act amending an Act concerning Clerical Expenses and
Assistance of Clerks of Courts of Common Pleas
and of the District Court of Waterbury.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in
General Assembly convened:

SECTION 1. Section three of chapter 139 of the public acts of 1907 is hereby amended by striking out the word "five" in the fifth line thereof and inserting in lieu thereof the word "seven", so that said section as amended shall read as follows: The court of common pleas, or any judge thereof, in the counties of Hartford, New Haven, and Fairfield, and the district court of Waterbury, or the judge thereof, may, respectively, tax in favor of the clerk of each of said courts. a sum not exceeding seven hundred dollars per annum for necessary clerical expenses and assistance.

SEC. 2. This act shall take effect October 1, 1911.

Lyme and Chester and making an Appropriation

for the Maintenance thereof.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in

SECTION 1. Section two of chapter 179 of the public State aid to feracts of 1905 as amended by section four of chapter 145 of the Lyme and Chespublic acts of 1907 is hereby amended to read as follows: In case said accounts show losses accruing to said towns for the maintenance and operation of said ferry, the comptroller shall, in case he finds the accounts correct and approves the disbursements aforesaid, draw an order on the treasurer in favor of each town for the amount of its said loss, not exceeding, in the aggregate payments to both such towns, the sum of thirty-two hundred dollars for the two fiscal years, and the treasurer shall pay the same from the state treasury. SEC. 2. The following sum is hereby appropriated to be for maintenance paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, in full compensation for the object hereinafter specified for the two fiscal years ending September 30, 1913: For the maintenance of the ferry between Lyme and Chester, thirty-two hundred dollars.

CHAPTER 143.

An Act amending an Act concerning Reports of Number and Names of High School Pupils.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in
General Assembly convened:

Section 2241 of the general statutes is hereby amended in high schools to read as follows: The number and names of the children so attending high schools in towns other than those in which they reside, and the high schools which they have attended, shall, on or before the first day of July in each year, be certified under oath, by an acting school visitor or the secretary of the town school committee of the town in which the pupils reside, to the state board of education. The comptroller shall, on application of said board, draw an order on the treasurer in favor of the town for the amount provided in section 2240.
