We are advised by the Consul General of Austria and Hungary in New York that a moratorium, providing among other things for the valid payment of patent taxes after due date, was contemplated by the Governments of those countries, although the Consulate has not as yet received notice of the issue thereof.

We are advised that a decree was issued August 5, 1914 declaring a moratorium of one month. By virtue of this decree patent taxes or trade-mark renewals due prior to August 5, 1914 may be paid up to September 6, 1914. Those due after August 5, 1914 may be paid within one calendar month from the due date.

Nigeria.

Patents. Trade-Marks. Status.

On January 1, 1914, the "Colony and Protectorate of Southern Nigeria" was amalgamated with the Protectorate of Northern Nigeria to form the "Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria" under a Governor-General. We are advised that no new patent or trade-mark legislation has as yet been enacted, but that same is contemplaed.
