THE DEATH OF A. J. VOLPY, whose name is familiar to almost every modern student of the classics is announced. The Courier says of him: Abraham John Valpy was the son of Dr. Valpy, one of the mest eminent classical scholars that England ever produced. He was educated

Oxford University, and learned the printers art chiefly in order that the various classical works of his father might be published in an accurate manner He established a printing office in London, and projected the publication of various other classical productions besides those of his father. The principal of these was the fa mous edition of the "Deiphin Classics," which was commenced in 1819 and finished in 1830. It was published under the patronage of the Prince Regent, and soon became celebrated taroughout the learned world. Heary Stephen's Greck Thesaurus" was also one of his publications. Mr. Valpy, having realized a fortune, retired from business some years since.
