Mercantile Associations have become of such great importance to, and an absolute necessity of, the business community, for the proper protection of its financial interest, that we do not consider it necessary to enlarge on their usefulness. This is an Association of Attorneys for mutual aid in the collection of claims and the transaction of legal business. Its organization was begun in 1875, and its present enviable position as one of the best MERCANTILE AGENCIES is owing mainly to the promptness and fidelity with which its numerous correspondents have discharged their duties to one another, and to its extensive mercantile clientage.

The annual volume of the LEGAL DIRECTORY is presented to the public, greatly enlarged and improved, containing many new features. It will be found to be a reliable guide for Attorneys and all Business Men in transacting legal business, collection of claims, etc., by furnishing a list of reliable and trustworthy Attorneys, to whom all legal business, collections, etc., may be intrusted, and assured prompt attention. In addition to our list of reliable Attorneys, we also furnish a complete digest of the Collection Laws, etc., of each State, Territory and Canada, compiled especially for us by our correspondents; also, the Population of each City and Town; this information has been carefully obtained and compiled, and will be found to be very useful.

For the use of members of the Association desiring to transact secret business by telegraph, such as obtaining reports, etc., we have given a system of CIPHER TELEGRAPH.

We call especial attention to the fact that we are the only firm in the United States publishing a full list of English Lawyers, and we are prepared to attend to any legal business anywhere in Great Britain and Ireland.

The list of Attorneys is compiled from correspondence with Banks or Bankers and the leading business men throughout the country, and can be relied upon as being accurate in every particular.

We shall consider it a personal favor if those discovering any errors, etc., in the Directory, will notify us of them, so that we can make corrections for our future editions. Any further information desired by our patrons, which we can furnish, will be cheerfully given.

We shall continue the quarterly issue of the Directory.
