ing within the following described boundaries, to wit; "Beginning at a point in the boundary line between this State and the Incorporation. State of Michigan, where the range line between ranges nine and ten strikes said boundary line, running thence in an easterly direction on said boundary line to the mouth of the Menomonee river, thence south through Green Bay to the main channel thereof, thence southerly along the channel of said Bay to the line dividing townships twenty-five and twenty-six, thence west to the north west corner of township twenty-five, range nineteen, thence south to the south-west corner of said town, thence west to Wolf river, thence up the middle of said river to the range line between ranges nine and ten, thence north on said line to the place of beginning," shall be, and is hereby set apart, and shall constitute a county, with all the rights and privileges heretofore granted to other counties, and shall hereafter be known, in law and otherwise, by the name and style of Oconto county, and shall be for the time being attached to the county of Brown for all judicial purposes.

County Seat.

SEC. 2. That the county of Oconto shall pay to the Treasurer of the county of Brown all costs, fees, charges and expenses, that shall be paid by the said county of Brown, that may accrue in consequence of any prosecution, conviction, imprisonment or proceedings whatever against any person charged with any crime or misdemeanor within said county of Oconto, and the county of Brown may sue and collect the same from said county of Oconto, in any court of competent jurisdiction.

SEC. 3. The seat of justice shall be and is hereby located, temporarily, at Jones' Mills, on the Oconto river, and the people of said county, may, at their first election, vote for the establishment of the seat of justice at any place in said county, and the place receiving a majority of all the votes polled at such election, shall be the permanent seat of justice of said county. SECTION 1. The time allowed for the collection of taxes and making returns is hereby extended (to the Treasurer of the

town of Green Lake, in Marquette county,) to the second Monday of February.

An Act to change the name of Sarah Dyer to Sarah Whiting.

The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The name of Sarah Dyer is hereby changed to
Sarah Whiting.

SEC. 2. This act shall take effect from and after its passage.

An Act in relation to public printing.

The People of the State of Wisconsin represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows :

SECTION 1, That the person or persons who now or hereaf ter may have any contract or contracts for doing any or all the public printing of this State, are hereby required, immediately after performing any such printing, to deposite with the Secretary of State a copy of such journal, bill, memorial, report, or any other printed document or paper coming under the class of "incidental printing." with the number of such copies printed, the number of "ems" composing the same, and the whole price of the said number of copies marked thereon; and there shall also be deposited in a similar manner a copy of each "form" Contractor to of the laws and journals, together with the number of "ems" deposite copice composing the same, and also a copy of each "blank" furnished the Executive or any of the departments of the State; and in case other printing than "blanks" are so furnished to the Executive or any of the departments of the State, a copy of the same shall be deposited with the Secretary of State in the same manner as is above provided for the incidental printing, or the printing of the laws and journals, as the case may be.

SEC. 2. No compensation whatever shall be hereafter allowed to any person or persons doing printing by contract, for the State, unless the provisions of the first section of this act are complied with.

SEC. 3. It shall be the duty, of the Secretary of State, to receive such copies at any time when presented at his office, and preserve the same subject to the inspection of the legisla

ture.

SEC. 4. This act shall take effect immediately after its passage.

Chap. 48. An Act to amend Chapter 139, of Title thirty-three, of Part four of the Revised Statutes The People of the State of Wisconsin represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. That section sixteen, of chapter one hundred and thirty-nine, title thirty-three of part four of the Revised Statutes, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Every person who shall, on the Lord's day, or at any other time, wilfully interrupt or molest any assembly of people met for the worship of God, or any member thereof, or any persons, when meeting or met together for the performance of any duties enjoined on or appertaining to them, as members of any religious society, or for the recitation or performance of, or instruction in vocal music, within the place of such meeting, or out of it, shall be punished by fine not exceeding twenty dollars, nor less than five dollars.

An Act to amend "An Act to provide a b'ock of marble or granite, to be placed in the National Monument, at the city of Washington, approved February 9th, 1850.

The People of the State of Wisconsin represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SEC. 1. That section two of said act is hereby amended so as to read as follows: A block of native marble having been

procured in accordance with said act, which shall be dressed to the size required by those employed in the erection of said monument, the Governor shall cause to be engraved on said block of marble or granite, as a device, the name of this State and the date of her admission into the Union; and that the margin around said block be imitation of rope work.

An Act to appropriate the several sums therein named.

The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SEC. 1. There is hereby appropriated, to be paid out of any money in the State treasury, the sum of seventy-five dollars to the Lieutenant Governor, and seventy-five dollars to each member of the Senate and Assembly, as part compensation for their services at the present session of the legislature.

SEC. 2. There is hereby appropriated, to be paid out of any money in the State treasury, to each of the Chief Clerks of the Senate and Assembly, the sum of three hundred and seventy five dollars; and to the Sergeant-at-Arms of the Senate and Assembly, each the sum of three hundred dollars, in part pay for their services and those employed under them; which Clerks to give said amounts, when so paid by the Treasurer to the persons above named, they shall execute to said Treasurer sufficient vouchers thereof.

SEC. 3. There is hereby appropriated to Frederick W. Horn seventy-five dollars, out of any money in the treasury, as part compensation for his services as Speaker of the present session of the legislature.

SEC. 4. There is hereby appropriated to the Chief Clerks of the Senate and Assembly, each the sum of one hundred dollars, as a contingent fund for extra engrossing and enrolling, Contingent to be accounted for by said Clerks at the close of the session, to the proper committee of their respective houses.

An Act to pay David T Dickson the sum therein named.

The People of the State of Wisconsin represented in Senate and Assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. That the sum of seven thousand one hundred and twenty-four dollars and eighty-three cents ($7124,83,) be and hereby is appropriated to David T. Dickson, State Printer, out of any money in the State treasury not otherwise appropriated, in full for printing done for the use of the State for the year

1850.

An Act for the apportionment of school moneys for the year eighteen hundred and fifty-one.

The People of the State of Wisconsin, represented in Senate and Assembly, do enut as follows:

SECTION 1. It shall be the duty of the Town Superintendent of the several towns of this State, between the first Monday in April and the first Monday in May next, to apportion the Fuperintendents school moneys received by them from the Town and County Treasurers, to the several dictricts within their respectivo

over the age of four and under the age of twenty years.

SEC. 2. The number of children residing in the several school districts and parts of districts, between the ages of four Clerk's Report and twenty years, shall be ascertained by the Clerks of the several districts and parts of districts, and reported to the Superintendent of the towns in which such districts or parts of districts are situated respectively, on or before the first day of April next.

SEC. 3. No moneys shall be apportioned to any districts or parts of districts, unless it shall appear by the certificate of the Clerk of such district or part of district, that a school has been taught therein by a qualified teacher, at least three months within the year ending on the first day of April next, provided, that the prior right of all districts or parts of districts, to receive their due proportion of such school moneys, shall in no wise be prejudiced or invalidated by the provisions of this section, where it shall appear that such districts or parts of districts have complied with the provisions of the general school law, by making their report on or before the fifteenth of September last.
