It is hoped that this little book will be of use not only to the practising lawyer, but also to that large public interested either in the lending or hiring of goods. The Author has attempted to bring within the compass of a handy volume the law relating to the Contract of Hire-Purchase. Where possible the head-notes of the more important cases are set out, and the forms of agreements used in a few of the cases have been included in the text for comparison with those now in use. Much has been said and written against this kind of contract, but the system has been widely adopted, and is undoubtedly popular. The Author ventures to suggest that the chief defect in the law as it at present stands is the absence of any system of registration which might offer a means of protection to persons who innocently purchase goods from a fraudulent hirer.
