(3) LAWS AND RESOLUTIONS IN REGARD TO THE PUBLICATION OF THE ARMY REGISTER Resolved, That the Secretary of War and the Secretary of the Navy be requested to furnish annually, on ti first of January, each member of the Senate with a copy of the Register of the officers of the Army and Nav of the United States. [Agreed to by the Senate December 13, 1815.] Resolved, That the Secretary of War cause to be annually laid before this House a number of copies of th printed Army list, equal to the number of members of the House. [Agreed to by the House of Representatives February 1, 1830.] Resolved, [Extract.] That there be annexed annually hereafter to the Army Register an accurate schedule the pay and emoluments, with the commutation value thereof, to which the various officers of the Army each grade are entitled. * * * * [Adopted by the House of Representatives August 30, 1842.] SEC. 1226. ** *The highest volunteer rank which has been held by officers of the Regular Army shall b entered, with their names respectively, upon the Army Register. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assen bled, * ** SEC. 2. That in every Official Army Register hereafter issued, the lineal rank of all officers of the line of th Army shall be given separately for the different arms of the service; and if the officer be promoted from th ranks, or shall have served in the volunteer army, either as an enlisted man or officer, his service as a privat and non-commissioned officer shall be given, and in addition thereto the record of his service as volunteer. [Approved June 18, 1878.] NOTES AND EXPLANATIONS. Officers are credited with actual service in the permanent establishment from date of acceptance, except i the case of graduates of the Military Academy, whose services commence from date of admission to th Academy. Officers are credited with actual service in the volunteers from date of muster into the service of the Unite States, or from date of acceptance in the cases where service was rendered under a commission by the Presi dent of the United States. This mark (†) denotes a voluntary transfer, which is the cause of the anomalous position of the officer in hi regiment or corps. This mark (4) denotes an anomalous position by sentence of general court-martial. Under the heading "Appointed from the initials "M. A." denote that the officer is a graduate of the Mili tary Academy. Errors or omissions should be immediately reported to the Adjutant General by those concerned. (4) |
