FELLOWS' PRIZE ESSAY. This Prize was instituted by the Fellows of the Medical Society of New Jersey in 1881, and is open for competition to the members of the Component (County) Medical Societies. The Fellows have chosen as the subject of the competing Essays this year, "The Etiology of Malarial Diseases." The Essays must be signed with an assumed name and have a motto, both of which shall be endorsed a sealed envelope containing the author's name, residence and Component Society. They should not contain less than 2000 nor more than 4000 words and must be characterized by originality in investigation and thought and by clearness and conciseness of expression, and be, in the judgment of the Committee, of decided value to the members of the Society and the profession generally. Failing in these respects no awards will be made. The Essays, with the sealed envelope, must be placed in the hands of the Chairman of the Committee on or before the first day of May, 1904. The Committee will select the first two Essays in order of merit. To the first will be awarded the prize of one hundred dollars; to the second, that of honorary mention. The unsuccessful authors will receive back their Essays upon their identification to the Chairman of the Committee.
