CHAPTER 10.

AN ACT to amend section 3 of chapter 149 of the general laws of 1867, entitled "an act to regulate and fix the time for holding certain terms of the circuit court in the ninth judicial circuit."

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section three (3) of chapter one hundred and forty-nine (149) of the general laws of 1867, is hereby amended as follows: by adding to the said section the words "and the term of the circuit court appointed by law to be held in and for said county of Dane, on the first Wednesday next succeeding the first Monday in April, shall hereafter be held on the second Wednesday in March in each

year.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after the first day of May nex t. Approved February 8, 1868.

CHAPTER 11.

Amended.

AN ACT to amend chapter 14 of the general laws of 1866, entitled "an act to provide for issuing executions upon judgments in certain cases," approved March 6, 1866.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1 Section one of chapter fourteen of the the general laws of 1866, entitled "an act to provide for issuing executions upon judgments in certain cases," approved March 6, 1866, is hereby amended by adding thereto the words "provided, that no execution shall issue, nor any action or proceedings be had upon any such judgment after twenty years from the time of the rendition or docketing thereof."

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 12.

AN ACT to amend section 29 of chapter 117 of the revised statutes, entitled "of county courts."

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Section 29 of chapter 117 of the revised Amended. statutes, entitled "of county courts," is hereby amended by adding thereto the following words: "But in all cases where permission has been or shall be given to a person by the circuit court to appeal from the act or decision of the judge of the county court, the appeal must be taken within the period of six months from and after the time of permission given to appeal by the circuit court: provided, that in all cases where the six months from the time of permission so given shall have expired before the passage of this act, and the party so obtaining permission shall not have appealed in the manner required by law, such party shall have the period of three months from and after the passage and publication of this act within which to take his appeal."

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. Approved February 8, 1868.

CHAPTER 13.

AN ACT to authorize the jndge of the first judicial circuit to ap-
point an additional court commissioner in the county of Rock.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate
and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. The judge of the first judicial circuit is
hereby authorized to appoint one court commissioner
in the county of Rock, in addition to the three com-
missioners now authorized by law to be appointed
therein; and hereafter, whenever vacancies may occur
in such office, the said judge may fill the same by ap-
pointment in the manner now provided by law.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in
force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 14.

AN ACT to punish frauds upon insurance companies.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate
and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. That if any person or persons shall obtations in obtain, or attempt to obtain, from any life or accident intaining insur-surance company, any sum of money on any policy of life or accident insurance, issued by any company transacting or authorized to transact the business of life or accident insurance in this state, by falsely or fraudulently representing the person or persons insured as dead, or shall cause any person or persons to be insured under an assumed name, and shall falsely represent the fictitious person or persons so insured as dead, and shall thereby obtain, cause to be obtained, or attempt to ob.

tain from any such insurance company, or any agent thereof, the amount of such insurance, or shall falsely obtain, cause to be obtained or attempt to obtain from any such life or accident insurance company, any sum of money, upon any life or accident policy of such company, by means of false and fraudulent written representations, an affidavit falsely representing that the person whose life was insured was dead, or that the person insured against accident was injured; every person so offending shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, on conviction thereof, if the sum so obtained, attempted or caused to be obtained, shall be equal to or exceed the sum of twenty-five dollars, shall upon conviction thereof, be imprisoned at hard labor in the state prison, for a period not less than one year nor more than fifteen years; and if the sum so obtained, caused or attempted to be obtained, shall be less than twenty-five dollars, the person so offending shall, on conviction thereof, be fined in any sum, not more than five hundred dollars, or be imprisoned in the county jail of the proper county for a period not exceeding six months, or both, at the discretion of the court.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage. Approved February 8, 1868.

CHAPTER 15.

[Published February 12, 1868.]

AN ACT to provide for the auditing and payment of the postage of the members and officers of the senate and assembly, and state officers.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter one of the general laws of Amended. 1858, entitled " an act for the auditing and payment of the postage of the members and officers of the senate and assembly, and state officers," (be and the same) is hereby repealed.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be force from and after its passage and publication. Approved February 11, 1868.

CHAPTER 16.

[Published February 18, 1868.]

AN ACT to repeal chapter nine of the general laws of 1862, entitled "an act to amend chapter two hundred and seventy-six of the - general laws of 1861, entitled 'an act to amend chapter twentytwo of the general laws of 1859, entitled 'an act relative to the sale of lands for unpaid taxes, and the conveyance and redemption thereof.""

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SECTION 1. Chapter nine of the general laws of 1862, entitled "an act to amend chapter two hundred and seventy-six of the general laws of 1861, entitled 'an act to amend chapter twenty-two of the general laws of 1859, entitled an act relative to the sale of lands for unpaid taxes, and the conveyance and redemption thereof,'" is hereby repealed.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication. Approved February 12, 1868.
