Switzerland, officers of whose army of defense are shown above, will maintain her territorial integrity as a neutral nation with determination and, it is hoped, success. Her army of
400,000 men is said to be highly efficient, and her situation amid the highest mountains of Europe gives her an exceedingly strong defensive position. Switzerland furnishes the best
example of what a peaceable and self-respecting democracy can and should do by way of military preparation. Every Swiss man of military age is expected to take his part in the sys-
tem by which this democracy defends itself as he is expected to perform any other duty of citizenship, and to that end receives, as a part of his education in school, military training

The auxiliary schooner George B. Cluett left New York recently for North Greenland to bring back the members of the MacMillan exploring expedition which in 1913
attempted to find Crocker Land." reported by Admiral Peary as a veritable discovery, but which the MacMillan party declare to be non-existent. The
George B. Cluett is under the command of Captain H. C. Pickles, who is accompanied by Dr. Hovey, of the American Museum of Natural
History. The crew, with their mascot, are shown in the photograph as they appeared shortly before the vessel sailed
