Quartermaster;' which said statement therein contained, to wit: 'the observations under the head of "Remarks" are correct,' was false in that the said Lieutenant Knudson well knew, when he signed the said certificate, that the said Robb had neither rendered service on the said tugboat nor in any other mechanical capacity during any part of the month of February, 1902, but that he, the said Robb, had been employed during the whole of the said month as a clerk in the quartermaster's office at Fort Davis, Alaska. This at or near Fort Davis, Alaska, on or about February 28, 1902." Specification 6th-"In that 1st Lieutenant Knud Knudson, 7th Infantry, being on duty as quartermaster at Fort Davis, Alaska, did render a report of persons and articles hired by him at Fort Davis, Alaska, for the month of March, 1902, which said report under the head of 'Remarks' represented one W. B. Robb to have been ememployed as Engineer, tugboat,' and did sign a certificate on the said report, which said certificate was in words and figures as follows, to wit: 'I certify on honor, that the above is a true report of all the persons and articles employed and hired by me during the month of March, 1902; that the observations under the head of "Remarks," and the st. tements of amounts due and remaining unpaid, are correct; and that enlisted men could not be detailed, without manifest injury to the service, to perform the duties of the civilian employees herein reported. K. Knudson, 1st Lt. 7th Infantry, A. A. Quartermaster;' which said statement therein contained, to wit: 'the observations under the head of "Remarks" are correct,' was false in that the said Lieutenant Knudson well knew, when he signed the said certificate, that the said Robb had neither rendered service

Specification 7th- In that 1st Lieutenant Knud Knudson, 7th Infantry, being on duty as quartermaster at Fort Davis, Alaska, did, on or about December 31, 1901, render a report of persons and articles hired by him at Fort Davis, Alaska, during the month of December, 1901, and did sign a certificate at the bottom of the said report, which said certificate was in words and figures as follows, to wit: 'I certify on honor, that the above is a true report of all the persons and articles employed by me during the month of December, 1901; that the observations under the head of "Remarks," and the statements of amounts due and remaining unpaid, are correct; and that enlisted men could not be detailed, without manifest injury to the service, to perform the duties of the civilian employees herein reported. K. Knudson, 1st Lieut. 7th Infantry, A. A. Q. M.;' which said statement therein contained, to wit: the above is a true report of all persons and articles employed and hired by me during the month of December, 1901,' was false in that the said Lieutenant Knudson well knew when he signed the said certificates that the said report did not contain the name of one R. McLaren, who was employed for eighteen days of the said month by him, the said Lieutenant Knudson, in his capacity as quartermaster at Fort Davis, Alaska. This at or near Fort Davis, Alaska, on or about December 31, 1901." Specification 8th-" In that 1st Lieutenant Knud Knudson, 7th

true report of all the persons and articles employed and hired by me during the month of January, 1902; that the observations under the head of "Remarks," and the statements of amounts due and remaining unpaid, are correct; and that enlisted men could not be detailed, without manifest injury to the service, to perform the duties of the civilian employees herein reported. K. Knudson, 1st. Lt., 7th Inf., A. A. Quartermaster;' which said statement therein contained, to wit: the above is a true report of all the persons and articles employed and hired by me during the month of February, 1902,' was false in that the said Lieutenant Knudson well knew when he signed the said certificate that the said report

did not contain the name of one R. McLaren, who was employed during the whole of the said month by him, the said Lieutenant Knudson, in his capacity as quartermaster at Fort Davis, Alaska. This at or near Fort Davis, Alaska, on or about March 31, 1902.” Specification 11th-"In that 1st Lieutenant Knud Knudson, 7th Infantry, being on duty as quartermaster at Fort Davis, Alaska, did sign a certificate at the bottom of a requisition for fuel, forage, straw, and illuminating supplies for troops stationed at Fort Davis, Alaska, on the last day of October, 1901, which said requisition was a voucher to Abstract G' of his, the said Lieutenant Knudson's, return as quartermaster, in words and figures, as follows, to wit: 'I certify that all the above-mentioned

articles were issued as stated. K. Knudson, 1st Lieut. 7th Infantry, A. A. Quartermaster;' which said certificate was false in that the said Lieutenant Knudson well knew when he signed it that said voucher represented sixty-seven thousand two hundred (67,200) pounds of bituminous coal to have been burned on a boat; that the said boat had been beached and was out of commission during the whole of the said month; and that no coal whatever had been consumed in the said boat during the said month. This at or near Fort Davis, Alaska, on or about October 31, 1901." Specification 12th-"In that 1st Lieutenant Knud Knudson, 7th Infantry, being on duty as commissary at Fort Davis, Alaska, did render to the Commissary General, U. S. Army, an abstract of subsistence stores sold at the post of Fort Davis, Alaska, in the month of November, 1901, which said abstract represented 9,203 pounds of fresh potatoes to have been sold at Fort Davis, Alaska, in the said month, did sign a certificate on the said abstract in words and figures as follows, to wit: 'I certify that the sales above reported were made with due observance of all rules, regulations, orders, and instructions relating to sales of subsistence stores; that the abstract is correct; and that I have delivered to the commanding officers of the enlisted men who purchased on credit the "Statements of Dues" (Form No. 42). K. Knudson, 1st Lieut. 7th Infantry, Commissary;' which said certificate was false in that the said Lieutenant Knudson well knew when he signed it that a portion of the said potatoes had not been sold in the said month, and had not been sold at any time with due observance of all rules, regulations, orders, and instructions relating to sales of subsistence stores, but had been exchanged with the Northern Commercial Company of Nome, Alaska, on or about October 30, 1901, for various articles of merchandise which were sold by the commissary at Fort Davis, Alaska, in lieu of potatoes. This at or near Fort Davis, Alaska, on or about November 30, 1901."
