WASHINGTON, October 29, 1904. I.-Under the provisions of the act of Congress approved March 2, 1903, authorizing the Secretary of War to prescribe regulations for the tests for a national trophy and medals and other prizes (for marksmanship), to be provided and contested for annually, Major Walter E. Coney, 1st Infantry, Georgia State Troops, Savannah, Georgia, is appointed a member of the National Board for the Promotion of Rifle Practice, having been designated by the governor of Georgia for that duty and recommended by the board, vice Colonel Alexander R. Lawton, Georgia State Troops, Savannah, Georgia, hereby relieved at his own request.

II. The United States having acquired, partly by purchase at private sale and partly by condemnation proceedings in the district and circuit courts of the United States for the district of South Carolina, the following described lands situated in Beaufort County, South Carolina, adjacent to the Fort Fremont Military Reservation, except lot 37, the title to which was found to be in the United States, the same, including said lot 37, is hereby announced as an addition to that reservation, viz: Lot 60 of section 15 and lots 5, 12, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28, 37, 38, and 39 of section 22, all of township 2 south, range 1 west of St. Helena meridian, according to the survey made by the United States Direct Tax Commission, which survey is now on file in the office of the collector of internal revenue for the district of South Carolina. These lots contain about 10 acres each and aggregate about 110 acres. BY ORDER OF THE ACTING SECRETARY OF WAR:

Army, Adjutant General's Office, March 11, 1903, as assigns
Fort Independence, Massachusetts, to the Artillery District of
Boston is hereby revoked, the post being ungarrisoned and
without modern armament.
