Hale, Ezekiel E., private, Company B, 9th U. S. Infantry: For most gallant and meritorious service during the battle of Tientsin, China, July 13, 1900, in having voluntarily left his shelter and, under a terrific fire at point-blank range, gathered ammunition from the dead and wounded and brought it back to his command, whose supply was nearly exhausted. Harrington, Charles M., sergeant, Company C, 8th U. S. Infantry: For meritorious conduct in entering, at the risk of his own life, a burning building in which was stored a quantity of ammunition, and succeeding in putting out the fire, at Fort Snelling, Minn., August 22, 1900, when private, Company C, 8th U.
