Since it is primarily intended as a practical aid to those coming directly in touch with the policyholder, particular attention is given to those subjects which experience shows are constantly arising in one form or another in the office and outside work of the agent and the broker. These subjects cover a wide range and deal with agents' and brokers' relations with the company and the insured, the scope of their authority and responsibility, soliciting, office systems, policy writing, preparation of forms and clauses, explanation of the policy contract, the principal clauses used and the various covers written by fire insurance companies, cancellations, collection of premiums, adjustment of losses and many other subjects embraced in the field of their operations.
