Every effort has been made to locate the best preserved and most
legible copy of the original documents, some of which have suffered
from the ravages of time. The facsimiles faithfully reflect the
condition of the originals. New and precise technology has been
employed in the reproduction process to enhance readability yet
preserve the flavor of the original to the best of our ability.

WAY & GROFF Printers of the original edition of this volume

Little is known about these two printers except that they printed in Philadelphia, 1798-1800. They followed the government to Washington and received some printing contracts and, among other titles, printed Rules & Articles for the Better Government of the Troops...of the United States of America.

The original edition of this volume was issued under their imprint: "Washington: Printed by Way & Groff, North E Street. 1800." But as the session did not end until March 3, 1801, the date is incorrect.
