AN ACT to provide for the purchase of books for the Michigan State Library, and books and equipment for the Michigan traveling libraries, and for printing and binding, making an appropriation therefor, and providing a tax to meet the same.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

SEC. 4. The several sums appropriated by the provisions How paid of this act shall be paid out of the general fund of the State treasury to the State librarian, at such times and in such amounts as the general accounting laws of the State shall prescribe, and the disbursing officer shall render his accounts to the Auditor General thereunder.

SEC. 5. The Auditor General shall incorporate in the State Tax clause. tax for the year nineteen hundred seventeen the sum of ten thousand dollars, and for the year nineteen hundred eighteen the sum of ten thousand dollars, which, when collected, shall be credited to the general fund to reimburse the same for the moneys hereby appropriated.

Conveying

certain lands for street purposes.

AN ACT to authorize and permit the board of control of the Michigan School for the Blind to grant and convey to the city of Lansing certain real estate in said city for street purposes.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

SECTION 1. The board of control of the Michigan School for the Blind, in consideration of the action of the city council of the city of Lansing in vacating and discontinuing for street purposes that portion of Rogers street lying south of the south line of Warner street, and that portion of Maple street lying west of a point fifty feet west of the intersection of the west line of Moores' subdivision with said Maple street, is hereby authorized and permitted to grant and convey to the said city of Lansing, from the lands belonging to said State, situate in the northeast quarter of the southeast quarter of section eight, town four north, range two west, the following described parcels of land for street purposes, namely: A parcel of land thirty feet wide, extending from Warner street to Englewood Park subdivision, off the west side of the lands so belonging to the said State; also a parcel of land thirty feet wide, extending from a point eighteen rods east of the east line of Logan street to the west line of said Moores' subdivision, off the south side of the lands so belonging to said State; and also a parcel of land fifty feet wide, extending from the said Englewood Park subdivision to the south line of said Maple street, off the east side of the lands so belonging to said State: Provided, That said parcels of land shall revert to the State of Michigan if said city shall at any time cease to use the same for such street purposes.

This act is ordered to take immediate effect.

AN ACT to amend section eight of chapter eighty of the Revised Statutes of eighteen hundred forty-six, entitled "Of fraudulent conveyances and contracts relative to land," being section eleven thousand nine hundred seventy-seven of the Compiled Laws of nineteen hundred fifteen.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

SECTION 1. Section eight of chapter eighty of the Revised Section Statutes of eighteen hundred forty-six, entitled "Of fraudu- amended. lent conveyances and contracts relative to land," being section eleven thousand nine hundred seventy-seven of the Compiled Laws of nineteen hundred fifteen, is hereby amended to read as follows:

SEC. 8. AN ACT making an appropriation for the State Industrial Home for Girls for the fiscal year ending June thirty, ninteen hundred eighteen, to meet a deficiency in the current expense fund appropriation for the fiscal year ending June thirty, nineteen hundred seventeen, and to provide a tax to meet the same.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

for the purpose of meeting a deficiency in the current expense fund appropriation for the fiscal year ending June thirty, nineteen hundred seventeen: Provided, That the board of trustees of the State Industrial Home for Girls may obtain money under this section before July first, nineteen hundred seventeen, in such amounts as they may, by requisition, certify to the Auditor General are necessary for immediate use, which amounts, thus advanced, shall be deducted from the total amount when the appropriation becomes available.

SEC. 2. The amount appropriated by the provisions of this act shall be paid out of the State treasury to the treasurer of the State Industrial Home for Girls at such times and in such amounts as the general accounting laws of the State prescribe and the disbursing officer shall render his accounts to the Auditor General thereunder.

SEC. 3. The Auditor General shall incorporate in the State tax for the year nineteen hundred seventeen the sum of ten thousand dollars, which, when collected, shall be credited to the general fund to reimburse the same for the money hereby appropriated.

AN ACT to amend chapter five of act number two hundred eighty-three of the Public Acts of nineteen hundred nine, approved June second, nineteen hundred nine, as amended, entitled "An act to revise, consolidate and add to the laws relating to the establishment, opening, improvement, maintenance and use of the public highways and private roads; the condemnation of property and gravel therefor; the building, repairing and preservation of bridges; setting and protecting shade trees, drainage, cutting weeds and brush within this State, and providing for the election and defining the powers, duties and compensation of State, county, township and district highway officials," being sections four thousand three hundred seventy-eight to four thousand three hundred ninety-one, inclusive, of the Compiled Laws of nineteen hundred fifteen, by adding thereto a new section to stand as section ten-a thereof.

The People of the State of Michigan enact:

SECTION 1. Chapter five of act number two hundred eightythree of the Public Acts of nineteen hundred nine, approved June second, nineteen hundred nine, as amended, entitled

"An act to revise, consolidate and add to the laws relating to the establishment, opening, improvement, maintenance and use of the public highways and private roads; the condemnation of property and gravel therefor; the building, repairing and preservation of bridges, setting and protecting shade trees, drainage, cutting weeds and brush within this State. and providing for the election and defining the powers, duties and compensation of State, county, township and district highway officials," being sections four thousand three hundred seventy-eight to four thousand three hundred ninety-one, inclusive, of the Compiled Laws of nineteen hundred fifteen, is hereby amended by adding thereto a new section to stand as section ten-a thereof to read as follows:

SEC. 10a. AN ACT to encourage private forestry, care and management thereof and to provide for exemption from taxation of such private forest reserves, and to repeal all acts or parts of acts inconsistent with the provisions of this act.

Upon any tract of land not exceeding one nun- Private dred sixty acres, where at least one-half is improved and devoted to agricultural purposes in this State, there may be selected by the owner or owners thereof, as a private forest reservation, a portion thereof not exceeding one-fourth of the total area of said tract, upon filing with the treasurer of the county in which it is located a description of such forest reservation as is hereinafter provided.
