THE Publishers of "THE ATLANTIC" had hoped that the present number would con-
tain the initial chapters of Mrs. Harriet Beecher Stowe's new Novel, which she is writ-
ing for its pages. They find, however, that its commencement this month is impracti-
cable; but they have great pleasure in announcing that it will appear in early numbers
of the present volume.

BOUND VOLUMES OF "THE ATLANTIC."

THE six volumes of "THE ATLANTIC MONTHLY" now published, handsomely bound
in cloth, can be procured of the Publishers at two dollars per volume. They contain a
large amount of most valuable reading, among which are "The Minister's Wooing." by
Mrs. Stowe; "The Autocrat of the Breakfast-Table," "The Professor at the Breakfast-
Table," and "The Professor's Story," by Dr. Holmes; "The Diamond Lens;" "The
Amber Gods;" "In a Cellar;" "Midsummer and May;" "The Sphinx's Children;"
"Saints and their Bodies," and many other prose papers, which have acquired a wide
popularity; admirable biographical records of Jefferson, Burr, Paine, and other well-
known characters; original articles by Prescott, Motley, Palfrey, Bryant, Kennedy,
Hawthorne, Longfellow, Saxe, Whittier, Lowell, Mrs. Kemble, Higginson, and Bayard
Taylor. The volumes will be sent free of expense to any address.
