an animal and a vegetable; and I am further of opinion that in the vegetable the two currents are in opposite states of electricity : the ascending one I hold to be positive, the descending one negative, which will account for some of the phenomena of vegetable life. The remainder of the evening, which was protracted to a late hour, was passed in a free discussion on the different subjects that had been brought forward at the meeting, and in the interchange of those sentiments which tend to unite together the members of a common profession in terms of amity.
