IN 1861, most of the former town of Fall River, R. I., was annexed to Fall River, Mass., and a part of Portsmouth, R. I., annexed to Westport, Mass. The town lines between Seekonk and Pawtucket, then both in Mass., were adjusted, largely in favor of Pawtucket, which was transferred to Rhode Island. Massachusetts lost and Rhode Island gained about 2500 inhabitants by this settlement of boundaries. |
