Strana 208 - My son, nearest to my heart. Though in the height of my power, and by God's permission, I gave you advice, and took with you the greatest pains, yet, as it was not the divine will, you did not attend with the ears of compliance. Strana ix - Holkar, no attempt is made to make the worse appear the better reason. Victory and defeat are briefly related ; if they pass over the latter too hastily, they do not dwell upon the former with unnecessary minuteness. They do not endeavour to bias or mislead the judgement, but are certainly greatly deficient in chronology and in histob rical reflections.
