A SATIRICAL POEM.
" To reign is worth Ambition though in Hell."
6 Sons of a day, just buoyant on the flood,
BY E, HILDYARD, FETTER-LANE, HOLBORN,
UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD,
THIS Effusion is inscribed, as pourtraying, in some degree, the character of a man, who, with unparalleled effrontery, while ADVOCATING THE CAUSE OF POPERY, and attempting to SAP THE ESTABLISHED RELIGION OF THE COUNTRY, has had the temerity to offer himself to your notice, as a candidate for the Chancellorship, and as successor to the lamented and illustrious PORTLAND!
TO THE PEOPLE OF ENGLAND, it is presented, as affording a correct anticipation of the *blessings which would result to them from a change in the ministry, and from the accession to power of a party, unprincipled and infamous; the disciples of Jacobinism ; the friends of despotism ; the supporters of popish bigotry; and the eternal foes of the religion and liberties of Englishmen!
