Michael Egan, of Jersey City, and Louis Keegan, of Chicago, played a handball match for the professional championship of America in April. It was the best of fifteen games, seven in Jersey City and the others in Chicago. Egan won all of the first seven games in his own court, and on April 12 in Chicago be won the second game of the last half of the match, taking the series by 8 games to 1. After winning the American championship Egan played a match for the championship of the world with Timothy Twohill, of Ireland, with similar terms, the best of fifteen games, seven in Jersey City and the remainder in Twohill's home court in Kantuck, County Cork, Ireland. Egan won by 21-5, 21-1, 21-6, 21-5, 21-5, 21-4, 21-0 in Jersey City, June 23, and in Ireland, on July 13, he took the first game by 21-6, ending the match in eight straight games. Kings Co.
