Mr. Thayer moved that the vote last taken be reconsidered, and

also moved that the motion to reconsider be laid on the table; which latter motion was agreed to.

Mr. Grow, from the Committee on the Territories, to whom was referred the bill of the House (H. R. 184) making additional appropriations for the erection of the public buildings of Washington Territory, reported the same without amendment.

Ordered, That the said bill be committed to the Committee of the Whole House on the state of the Union, and printed.

Mr. Grow moved that the House resolve itself into the Committee of the Whole House on the state of the Union; which motion was disagreed to.

Mr. Delano moved that the territorial business be postponed until to-morrow; which motion was disagreed to.

By Mr. McKnight: The petition of George Haslett, praying for bounty land for services rendered in the war of 1812; which was referred to the Committee on Public Lands.

By Mr. Otero: The petition of Tomas Baca y Pino, praying for a pension for injuries sustained while in the service of the United States government; which was referred to the Committee on Invalid Pensions.

By Mr. Isaac N. Morris: The petition of I. N. Morris, in behalf of Luther Winget, praying for a pension; which was referred to the Committee on Invalid Pensions.

By Mr. Edgerton: The petition of Mary Thompson-heretofore referred February 9, 1857; which was referred to the Committee on Invalid Pensions.

By Mr. Rice: The memorial of James M. Beebe and others, citizens of Boston, Massachusetts, asking that Commandant Maury may be included in the increased pay provision of the navy bill; which was referred to the Committee on Naval Affairs.

Also, the petition of Milton D. Whipple, for an extension of patent; which was referred to the Committee on Patents.

By Mr. John Cochrane: The memorial of Eliza B. Mills, widow of Robert Mills, praying for relief; which was referred to the Committee of Claims.

By Mr. Bocock: The petition of Laurence B. Stern, praying for bounty land for services rendered in the war of 1812; which was referred to the Committee on Public Lands.

By Mr. Bingham: The petition of citizens of the State of Ohio, praying for the repeal of the fugitive slave laws of 1793 and 1850. By Mr. Farnsworth: The petition of citizens of the State of Illinois, praying for the repeal of the fugitive slave law of 1850.

Ordered, That the said petitions be referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

By Mr. Jenkins: The petition of citizens of the State of Virginia, praying for bounty land to the heirs of deceased officers and soldiers of the Indian wars and the war of 1812; which was referred to the Committee on Public Lands.

Also, the petition of citizens of the State of Virginia, of a like import; which was referred to the Committee on Invalid Pensions.

On motion of Mr. Charles F. Adams, by unanimous consent, Ordered, That the Committee on Manufactures be discharged from the further consideration of the memorial of the Emigrant Agricultural and Manufacturing Association of Mantau, Kansas, and that the same be referred to the Committee on Agriculture.

The Speaker having announced as the business first in order the motion submitted by Mr. Branch, and pending when the House adjourned yesterday, viz: "that the communication from the commandant of the navy yard be laid on the table, and that when the House adjourns on Saturday (to-day) it adjourn until Monday next at 3 o'clock p. m.," to which Mr. Crawford submitted the following amendment, viz: "Strike out 'Monday next, at 3 o'clock p. m.,' and insert in lieu thereof Tuesday next," and upon which the previous question was demanded
